The right answer depends on whether your truck is a clean C10 cruiser, a working K20, a K5 that sees rocks, or a survivor you want to preserve without changing its character.

Start with how you actually use the truck. A bumper that looks right on a lowered 1985 C10 may be a poor choice for a lifted K10 that needs real recovery points. And a trail bumper can be overkill if your main concern is keeping original chrome straight in a crowded parking lot.

Start With the Bumper You Have

Before adding anything, look closely at the bumper, brackets, and frame mounting points. A bent bumper bracket, loose hardware, rust around the mounting area, or a bumper that already sits crooked will make any protection upgrade look bad and work worse. Get the foundation straight first.

Original-style chrome bumpers, painted bumpers, and heavy aftermarket steel bumpers all need different treatment. Chrome is easy to scratch and hard to blend once damaged.
